Killie Reject Derby Bid
KILMARNOCK last night threw out a £300,000 bid from Derby County for Craig Bryson and told them they will need to up their bid substantially if they want to land their in-demand captain.
The Championship side, who are also in talks with Aberdeen to land out-of- contract striker Chris Maguire, have now had two offers for the Scottish international, above, turned down by Rugby Park chairman Michael Johnston.
Express Sport exclusively revealed County manager Nigel Clough’s interest in the 24-year-old last month.
Their latest offer is around £300,000 with add-ons but Kilmarnock want the majority of the extra payments guaranteed on appearances rather than the English team’s achievements. Championship rivals Brighton and Watford are also interested but don’t have the financial muscle of Derby.
The Rams are also struggling to agree a fee with Aberdeen for Maguire.
They have struck personal terms with the 22-year-old but are reluctant to meet the valuation of the Dons, who believe they would be entitled to £400,000 if it went to a tribunal.
Derby want Maguire down for a medical this week and he may have to ask for special dispensation to drop out of the Scotland squad to make the trip.
